DEKA Event Age Limits
DEKA age tracking operates on a standard seasonal timeline, with a dedicated division for younger athletes:
General Rule: A competitor's age category is typically based on their age as of September 30th (the end of the DEKA race season) of the current DEKA season.
Youth Division (Ages 10–13): Available for DEKA FIT (Age Group Category) and select affiliate gym locations for DEKA STRONG & DEKA MILE.
Turning 14: If a 13-year-old athlete turns 14 during the DEKA race season, they are eligible to jump into the Competitive/Age Group tier (14–17 age bracket).
Spartan Kids Races
Looking for requirements for our youngest Spartans? Age limits, distances, and obstacle types vary by the specific kids' bracket (ranging from ages 4 to 14).
For full details on youth obstacle courses, please refer to our dedicated Kids Race FAQ.
General Rules & Policy Enforcement
Maximum Age: There is no maximum age! We want to see Spartans out in the mud, no matter how old you are!
On-Course Violations: Any adult racer found on the course accompanied by an underage participant will be removed immediately, and no refunds will be issued.
Falsifying Information: Forging or falsifying birth dates or registration information to bypass age restrictions will result in an immediate "Did Not Finish" (DNF) status, disqualification, and forfeiture of all registration fees.
