Spartan ID: Everything You Need to Know
What is the Spartan ID and how does it work?
The Spartan ID is your new digital race identity built directly into the Spartan App. It serves as your official proof of registration and acts as your fast-pass to collect your Race Packet on-site. By replacing physical paperwork and ID checks, it streamlines the check-in process so you can get through lines much faster on race day.
How do I find and use my Spartan ID?
Using your Spartan ID takes just a few minutes before race day:
Download the Spartan App: Create an app account using the same email address that you used for your main Spartan website account.
Claim Your Ticket: Inside the app, look for the "Assign Ticket" button on your home page, and select Assign to Myself to assign your ticket to yourself.
Verify Activation: Your ticket status will turn green and say "claimed" once it is successfully claimed, meaning your Spartan ID is now attached to this ticket and ready for race day.
Can I just use a screenshot or photo of my Spartan ID?
No. For security and verification purposes, the Spartan ID does not allow screenshots, and photos of the ID will not be accepted at the gate. You must open the live Spartan App on your phone to display your ID at Race Packet Pick-Up. (Don't worry, this will open and work even if you don't have WiFi or good cell service!)
Someone else bought my ticket. How do I use my Spartan ID?
If a friend or family member purchased your ticket, the ticket transfer is not automatic. You must follow these steps today:
Ask the purchaser to send the ticket to you from their Spartan Account.
(Hint: View Ticket>Add Athlete>Send to a Friend)You'll receive an email, prompting you to "claim" the ticket, or you will be able to view the ticket and claim in the Spartan App.
Once you have successfully claimed the ticket, you'll be able to use your Spartan ID for check in.
⚠️ Important: If the purchaser already manually filled in your name and details on the ticket, you will not be able to claim it via the app or use Spartan ID for this ticket. Instead, you must bring a valid photo ID (a digital picture on your phone is perfectly fine) alongside your traditional race ticket QR code to check in.
What do I need to bring to Race Packet Pick-Up?
To use your Spartan ID, your phone is all you need. You do not need to print anything or bring an extra physical ID. Simply open the app, show your Spartan ID, collect your timing chip, headband, and wristband, and head to the course. (Pro Tip: We recommend having a picture of your photo ID on your phone, in case you run into any technical difficulties!)
Are there any event exclusions?
Yes, exclusions may apply to certain events. It is always highly recommended to check your specific event details page, or Race Day Program, for the most up-to-date local race guidelines.
