Whether you’re scaling the Slip Wall or tackling the Spear Throw, we know you’re pushing your limits. To help you stay focused on the course and less on the "what-ifs," we’ve partnered with Mutual of Omaha to offer an optional layer of protection for our US racers.
Here is everything you need to know about the Accident Insurance benefit.
FAQ: Spartan Accident Insurance (Mutual of Omaha)
1. What is the Spartan Accident Insurance benefit?
Every racer that registers for and participates in a US-based Spartan event is covered by Spartan’s accident medical insurance coverage offered by Mutual of Omaha, whereby, the applicable insurance policy offers limited coverage to participants that provides reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical costs arising from an injury incurred while participating at an event operated by Spartan Race, Inc.
During the ticket claim process, you will now have to complete a step to add and activate Accident Insurance policy provided by Mutual of Omaha.
2. Who is eligible to activate this?
To keep things streamlined, there are a few eligibility requirements:
Location: Only available for US-based Spartan events.
Residency: You must have a valid US address*.
Citizenship: You must be a US Citizen to proceed with coverage.
Age: Racers of all ages can be covered, but if you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the policy during the enrollment process.
*Due to state-specific regulations, residents of California (CA), New Mexico (NM), and New York (NY) are currently excluded. Residents of those states will still have the benefit of this Accident Insurance coverage, however, will not have to complete the Accident Insurance step during ticket claim process.
3. Can I activate insurance for someone else?
No. This is a self-claim only benefit. You can only activate insurance policy for the ticket associated with your own name and profile. If you purchase an event ticket on behalf of another (e.g., family member, friend), the individual associated with that ticket will need to complete the Accident Insurance step when claiming their own event ticket.
4. What exactly does it cover?
The policy provides specific financial support for race-day accidents:
Accident Medical Expense: Up to $100,000 limit (to help with those unexpected ER visits or treatments).
Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D): Up to a $10,000 limit.
Deductible: There is a $500 deductible applicable to claims.
