Special Spartans, a heat dedicated to our adaptive athletes

Everybody has an athlete within. Spartan Kids is proud to provide a dedicated race heat to meet the needs of participants with cognitive impairment and/or physical disability at all US events that include a Spartan Kids 800 M course.  To sign up, find an event near you. After choosing your event, click the orange Kids Race tab to be redirected to that event's Kids Race page.

  • “Generally” ages 4-21
  • Saturday, 3:00 PM unless otherwise noted on the event page
  • The online registration fee is $25.99

The (race-day) onsite registration fee is $35.
(This includes entry to the event, a Finisher T-Shirt and 800 M medal for the racer, and entry to the event for a parent or caregiver, along with an additional spectator pass.)

Sports are a universal language that unites people on and off the field of play, cutting across lines of race, ethnicity, education level, social status, and economic background. Although everyone is welcome to participate in any Spartan Kids heat, the Special Spartans heat will provide a race environment to meet the unique needs of participants with cognitive impairment and/or physical disabilities and provide them the spotlight, inclusion, and to raise awareness to all that everybody has an athlete within. We provide a safe and structured environment where individual differences are embraced and where children and families feel comfortable expressing themselves and engaging fully in the Spartan community.

Racers may participate with a parent and/or caretaker, and additional motivational support by Staff and Volunteers will be made available. Obstacle completion is encouraged but not required.
Please speak to a Kids Staff member prior to the start of the event if you’d like the Kids Staff to further accommodate your racer's needs. (A staff member may be found at the Kids Start Line, Kids Finish Line, or floating around the Kids Festival and Kids Course)
